 pippa bacca I'm really pleased to say that the Brides on Tour blog appears to be back online with information and photographs from the late and clearly very much loved and dearly missed Italian performance artist Pippa Bacca's hike from Milan to the Middle East for Peace. The hike ended in tragedy when Pippa , whose real name was Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo , was raped and murdered in Turkey and for a while it appeared that this horrific brutal outcome had simply erased everything Pippa had stood for and set out to do and this left people feeling even more devastated but respecting Pippa's family if they wished to retreat from the glare of the media machine. There are also some beautiful photographs on the Brides on Tour site one of which I've reproduced here without, I hope, breaching copyright. Pippa set out with a fellow artist to hitch hike from Milan to the Middle East to promote world peace and demonstrate a trust in other human beings . The women symbolically wore wedding dresses and updated their progress on the ' Brides on Tour' blog. . Pippa and her friend separated in Turkey agreeing to meet up in Israel but on the 31st March 2008 Pippa went missing . On April 11th 2008 police arrested a man caught using the SIM card from Pippa's mobile phone . He later led police to Pippa's body.She had been raped This horrific brutal outcome just stuns one into silence but I heve to say it just makes me despair of humanity and the potential for anything changing any time soon.
