it was instilled in us at school
the unwritten message in the scrawled lines
chalked up on the board
and hastilly scribbled in jotters
it was the learning aim of most basic childhood tasks
like opening a window
tying shoe laces
speaking when you were spoken to
it was being taught how to boil an egg
having our socks pulled up
how to straighten ones tie
and in my sisters case
how to sit properly
with knees together
thats how we developed
the fear of freedomwithout remembering how
