The 38th anniversary of the Kent State shootings came and passed without much ado as today's students face being gunned down on campus not so much for their long hair, flowery apparel and anti -war sentiments as their fellow students going postal after leaving a list of their grieviances, real or imagined, on Youtube. How's that for a measure of raised conscioness? . Sure, the drugs bust and 100 arrests at San Diego State yesterday hints at continued state oppression of the student population but somehow the founding fathers forgot to include coke dealing as an inalienable right ... At the movies too Hollywood captures a more contemprary take on student revolt as 21 folows the exploits of a group of MIT students who set out to use their abilities to bust the bank at Vegas rather than to strike a blow for the oppressed of the world. The movie is based on the real life exploits of a group of MIT grads who now, having exorcised the rebelliousness of their youth, have moved on and taken their rightful place at the table of plenty.
