OK, I watched the video a few times and to summarise I genuinely believe that
there is no basis for treating you guys - the proletarian people as you put it -
as my equals as , with respect, you arent. Dont get me wrong , I'm not simply
dismissing you as inferior its just that your family , cultural , educational
and dare I say it class backgrounds are so very different to mine.

You are
poor.

I accept I have always been materially better off than you and had
access to far more resources and its in that sense that we arent equal. Beyond
that I see this obsession with class by poorer people as just the politics of
envy and greed. I'm sorry but I do. It certainly isnt rational.

I'm sure you
are a cool person to hang out with Redstarfist, perhaps you have kids my age at
college too but we also have to be realistic, our paths probably wouldnt cross
offline , we obviously have very different social circles. It's nothing personal
, just the way it is that doesnt mean I dont try to take on board your point of
view.

As for that film , I think I saw part of it in media studies , it was
set in a bar in Chicago or somewhere , was it the orginal Cheers?

Well there you go highlighting some other differences we have , an area I was
reluctant to stray into, our values as I have been brought up with deep family
values that I will no doubt pass on to my children when we are ready for them
whereas you choose not to have children to pass the future on to.

I find
that decision very difficult to understand. It seems, well, thoughtless and
aimless.

i could never find any answers in women, booze or god, i'm not too hung up on
the class thing, cause we all reach the same fate, something the rich folks
refuse to admit, but yeah i've had my run ins with jesus at the crossroads, the
guy doesn't talk, I even spoke in tongues, the whole nine yards, but i can't say
nothing ever came of it, is it ok to talk about this here? seems like this
thread is supposed to some kind of space for redstarfist and the kid to work on
conflict resolution stuff

I was up for a debate as long as it was rational but I
suspect Redstarfist has come under pressure from the other admins to tone down
her attack on me. I really dont understand where that anger came from but hey
lets just live and let live.

By the way, have they rebuilt the seafront
casinos down there yet?

actually, the other admin asked me why I didn't want to leave the video up, the
reason why I took it down is because I didn't like the way I looked. I couldn't
get the lighting right.

you can keep posting here in your own right, sure why
not, any human contact is better than no contact at all, and like I said in the
second video, we need to keep this forum open for people to vent their
frustrations about class, so let's try to keep the comic relief alive, like E
says, we all reach the same fate anyway.

Well bad lighting or otherwise , that second video was unfairly critical of me
and I'm glad you've taken it down and want to maintain some sort of dialogue. I
respect you for that.

For my part I'm sorry I made the comment about you
having a kid my age, to tell the truth I dont know how old you are but working
class women on do tend to have children in their teens to get on welfare so I
wasnt really commenting on your age. Hope you werent offended and I'm glad we
have cleared this matter up.

Tara is studying law and is planning to work for a large accounting firm in NYC
. Her father is a partner in one of the big firms on Wall Street so she's had
some career building work experience already.

Tara is also involved in an
online legal advice startup , spent 5 weeks rockclimbing in the Andes with me
last fall , took part in a two week youth missionary initiative visit to the
Phillipines in 2004 and is hoping to get her pilots licence this month so yes, I
would say my fiancee is an exceedingly confident, driven and focussed young
woman who knows exactly what she wants from life.

Tara's life hasnt always
been a bed of roses though, her mother died tragically through an accidental
overdose of prescribed drugs when she was very young but she doesnt let that
hold her back. We are both going to focus on our careers and then start a family
when the time seems right. We both have very busy schedules and high
expectations of life.

And no I have never suffered an existential crisis, my
life is just too orderly and busy for such woolie distractions.

I admire your talent, drive, energy, power, clarity of vision, and everything
else that makes you the incredibly successful person you are, but you might want
to think twice about "passing on the future" to children that are also
part of the plan. The food crisis is real, and even you, with all your
stability and security are not going to be able to shield your offspring from
this.

You don't seem like the kind of guy that is cut out for rationing.

Passing on the future to our children is what life is all about. Those who dont
