flooded biofuel corn fields in the midwest

or stem cell research scientists feeling confident and free of any kind of political restraint

it feels like we're running out of credit

it really really does

we certainly had credit to wage war against a country that posed us no threat
because the dominant group wished to lash out against middle east arabs
generally in frustration at 9/11. I sense though credit is being used in wider
social and spiritual sense here as well

the drama feels increasingly more inhumane as without doubt the carrying
capacity of the planet has been exceeded .The crisis derives from a massive
negative combination of economic, social and spiritual factors and the fact
that too many have lost sight of the need for social justice.

Tony is absolutely spot on, the ' carrying capacity of the planet has been
exceeeded ' however whenever I hint at this in conversation people round on me
as if I am a fascist or simply dismiss me for being ' negative'.

We can talk
of scarcity in the food , oil and energy markets but we never seem to get
beyond the abstractions of the price mechanism or demand curves to explore the
real reasons why there are not enough resources to go round .

Why is it
negative to point out that our
current western lifestyles are unsustainable
because there are just far too many of us on the planet ?

Why is it
negative to face up to this fact?
