Ok, so this production does  conveniently duck  the Inferno and Purgatory stages  but to Hell with them , a little new age bourgeois  projection never  hurt anyone and how many people are really that familiar with  the plotline  of   The Divine Comedy anyway?

This is an industry insider remake people are just going to have to learn to
live with. Shame there's no soundrack?

Hey he would have found out sooner or later honey...

How much information we reveal about ourselves is a serious issue now that
technology presents the means to glean it from a myriad of sources. This chick's
doctor may well be selling the data that reveals she suffers suicidal ideation
to the highest bidder or whoever - who knows?
redstarfist   |2008-07-07 05:45:44
Hi Frank, I think this chick is much more concerned about never ending up in bed
with some guy that can't imagine what it's like to have a long history of CSI,
makes for lousy communication, which means a lousy time in bed.
ThePleasantvilleKid   |2008-07-07 12:05:49
Redstarfist,

What's to communicate about suicidal ideation apart from the
lack of moral fibre? Thankfully, most of us are preoccupied with more life
affirming thoughts. This kind of revelation would give me a downer not a boner.

the pleasantville kid is no kurt cobain!
jillian   |2008-07-07 15:25:00
if the pleasantville kid was forced to sit through an hour of comedy by someone
like Richard Lewis it would probably be torture for him.
Do you guys remember
Richard Lewis?
ThePleasantvilleKid   |2008-07-07 21:01:29
Yeah sure! Kurt Cobain would probably be hanging around as an obese 41 yr old
ex-junkie if he hadn't been dumb enough to take his own life.

You people
pick some really weird role models, a rock star who didnt believe his own
bulshit over selfless and hardworking political , community and religious
leaders and the countless unsung captains of commerce and industry who have
made a real contribution to society and ensuring that we all get to hang around.

I'm sure I'll make it to see my grandchildren graduate from an Ivy League
college and I bet they wont embark on their careers and plans to start their own
families burning incense sticks at shrines to losers like Kurt Cobain. .
jillian   |2008-07-07 15:28:59
and Bill Hicks would really drive him up the wall!
ThePleasantvilleKid   |2008-07-07 15:38:14
Damn right I'd puke if I was forced to endure that bulshit. You cant even be
patriotic in your choice of Comedians!

I'm suddenly really curious about Mindy McCready, she's a pretty popular country
singer that tried to commit suicide twice, and failed both times. That must
suck, hopefully her friends don't suck.
jillian   |2008-07-08 03:13:57
i think mindy's suicide attempts were brought on by circumstances: an abusive
relationship. I don't think it's the kind of thing that she thought about every
day for the last decade or two. She's probably also a woman of faith, equipped
with the 'moral fiber' to pull through the darkness.

and hey pleasantville
kid, Richard Lewis and the deceased Bill Hicks are 2 very different people with
their own unique styles. Do you want to fit your comedians in a box? Is that
what you meant by patriotic?
Frank   |2008-07-08 03:27:36
I remember a radio jock saying how Kurt Cobain killing himself was the best
career move he'd ever made the night his death was announced. I thought the
comment pretty sick at the time but noticed last year that Cobain had surpassed
Elvis as the top earning dead rock star. I imagine Mindy's stormy relationship
related suicide attempts will gain her more fans or at least enrich her
material.
Anna   |2008-07-08 06:35:39
I suspect that the suicidal impluses, whether acted upon or not, triggered by
sudden collapse of relationship or suddenly being thrown into other forms of
deep emotional turmoil are pretty normal ( the man who has not thought of
suicide has not thought of life , etc ) but doubt the lifelong constant suicidal
ideation often dealt with here is anywhere near as normal . Its not so unusual
for people to talk or even sing about the former but i cant remember anyone
dealing with the near constant suicidal ideation even in discussions around
depression.

i know you guys are smart enough to find meaning in life, i committed suicide
every day for about 25 years, and then one day i just stopped, i can't explain
why or how, everything still triggers me, but this desperate feeling of wanting
to put a full stop to birth consciousness has ceased, it's very difficult when
you don't have any faith in religion or even spiritual values, this planet is
full of people that are trying to get through, but i think that most people do
have faith, i don't have faith, but that gnawing feeling of wanting to get the
fuck out of here is gone, good luck, i totally feel for you.
E.S  - part2   |2008-07-09 00:33:31
ps: and i know how frustrating it is to be perceived as negative, you guys
aren't negative, we're all paying a psychic price for the atrocities that occur
in this world, this is not exactly an ideal world, so it sucks when your concern
about the weirdness of karma and unfairness is misinterpreted as negativity, i
recognize something very familiar here, i just hope your awareness of how things
really are doesn't make you too paranoid, go easy on those adrenals.
i really
understand this website, you care.
jillian   |2008-07-09 00:51:28
suicide is such a god awful bloody taboo, which only makes the suicidal person
feel much more unstable, but no one ever questions going to see movies that
address the issue of mass suicide: 'The Happening'-a weekend blockbuster for the
whole family
D   |2008-07-09 03:28:08
I'd just add - in explanation rather than justification as I'm not out to
convert here - that in many ways suicidal ideation is rational, take away the
golden promises of faith in the now and hereafter and the distraction of
perpetuating family and living in the present and what is left apart from being
acutely aware of growing old in a greed driven disintergrating world of
insurmountable problems and heartache?

It's not a majority perspective for
sure but those who wish to brush it aside as 'negative' or ' nihilistic'
simply have not thought deeply enough about life beyond its comforting
distractions.
Anna   |2008-07-09 03:54:19
In an ideal world we'd all be born with light sabres and the batteries would
never run out , unforotunately we live in a terribly unfair world marred by
greed and inequality and i'm just grateful that there are others prepared to
share their experiences of trying to navigate some of the less well lit routes
as i've never been able to console myself with blind faith either . If that's a
fault or negative trait, mea culpa.
