Addressing  young Catholics in Sydney Australia  Pope Benedict XVI passionately warned  of the dangers of modern life becoming a spiritual desert and condemned the  relentless squandering of the Earth's  resources "to fuel an insatiable consumption.

The Pontiff in Australia for the World Youth Day, a Christian festival created by the late Pope John Paul II , told  the young multi national congregation  "Our hearts and minds are yearning for a vision of life where love endures, where gifts are shared, where unity is built, where freedom finds meaning in truth, and where identity is found in respectful communion.""

Meanwhile as proof of the sort of  rampant senseless consumerism  and shallow identity issues Pope  Benedict warned about ,  BioArts , a US Biotech company is inviting pet owners to bid in an auction to be one of only 5 people to have the opportunity to have their pet dogs cloned.  To qualify to take part in the Best Friends Again auction bidders  have to provide a bank reference that they have assets of over $250,000 .

No fear then of anyone Cloning the Poor.
