Gas prices are high but the flesh is weak so down at  the Shady Lady Ranch brothel in Beatty, Nevada ( Voted Best Small Brothel for Five Consecutive Years ) clents who spend $300 or more this month will get  gas vouchers as part of a promotion to beat the summer slump in business.

The promotion, advertised as a July special  , offers a $50 gas card for clients who spend over $300, a $100 gas card for clients who spend over $500 and a $150 gas card for clients who spend over $800.

"It's rocking along. We're doing quite well. June and July historically are not big months," said James Davis, who co-owns the ranch with his wife, Bobbi.

The first $1,000 in gas cards were given out within a week, he added.

For gas seekers with more spiritual needs  at  St. Ann's Parish in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the Rev. Edward McDonagh has decided to institute a draw for a $50 gasoline card at weekly mass.

The drawings are symbolic gestures and not intended to boost attendance, he said.

"When Jesus was at the wedding feast of Cana, the groom ran out of wine, he produced the wine for them," he said. "In that spirit, we feel that this might be comparable."

A recent stabilisation in gas prices helped by assurances that Dolly isnt likely to disrupt oil production in the Gulf has seen pump prices fall in some areas  Gas prices will remain high.

the lazy shade deal is maybe a bit sleazy for some but the religious guys
reasoning doesnt bear up to scrutiny. Jesus wouldnt be handing out petrol
coupons under the current dire economic and environmental circumstances he'd be
handing out Birkenstock sandals and bicycles.

Birkenstocks? A new pair of Diadora riding shoes would be more practical. I
can't even walk comfortably in Birkenstocks.
