the planet is an adaptive clock thats been keeping time for over 4 billion years
, pacing and supporting complex multi-cellular life of one form or another for
over a billion years and in the 2.5 million years we've been around we've
managed to overheat the mechanism to time out a species every 20 minutes and
count down the seconds to our own demise.

yeah it didnt take us long to get ourselves included on the endangered species
list ... a bit like an existential Pop Idol, we've had our turn on the stage of
life and we've blown it...

makes me long for a time machine if only to
escape the depressing nostalgia

so where are they now? those existential could have beens of yesterday? they
are in an incredibly human place, a place that they might not have ever known,
had they become famous

there certainly dont seem to be any Prime-time Emmy -like awards for just being
human...

There's so very little focus on what happens outside the all dazzling 15
seconds of fame window although I did hear Martin Sheen - who featured in last
night's glitzy tv awards - confide on NPR that his career was kickstarted by a
500 dolar loan from a Catholic priest who helped him get to New York and how as
a struggling theatre hand there he lived off a soup kitchen ran by Dorothy
Day....
Vinny  - the 4 disappointing truths   |2008-09-22 15:40:21
being really really really human can often exclude one from what passes as the
human experience these days.......and there isn't much resolution or any feel
good answers to be found at many of the overly crowded meditation centers that
cater to those that are just oh so human

an associate of mine is getting help paying his mortgage from our lady of
perpetual help.....the only organization in town that is willing to lend him a
hand.

this is why I never really bad mouth the catholic church

Sweet Jesus save us from politicians, bankers and brokers preaching liberation
theology on Wall Street!
