We have grown up in a world where the relentless individual pursuit of happiness has been the driving force of our existence enshrined right there in the declaration of independence and expressed
through consumerism as  our inalienable right to shop til we drop
- a right that has transformed Uncle Sam into Dollar General. It's time to
re-negotiate the social contract but we are going to have to
make sacrifices too. I'm not so sure people want to hear that part of
the Change message .

Bob Barr for president!

I don't want to live in a more regulated world.
jillian   |2008-11-01 07:55:07
Bob Barr for president?
Huh????????
You're joking right?
DF  - freedom hurts   |2008-11-01 12:49:31
Bob Barr is no Max Stirner that's for sure.

Stands to reason if we want just and socially responsible Government and
Corporations and more sustainable resource managemenr we must be prepared to
contribute to the process ourselves.

"Obama who is poised to become the first Black Democratic presidential
nominee, said his journey to the White House, should he win, isn’t enough,
stressing that it will require all Americans to exercise greater social
responsibility.

So, vote Obama and help establish a Socialist New World
Order. No thanks.

No chance of the socialists and libertarians forming a new hybrid
party?

Throw some green into the mix.

What kind of party do we need to
help make the final days of civilization more tolerable?
VJ  - It's Time   |2008-11-01 21:10:09
Yay to that mix!

For what its worth the Economist has also endorsed
Barack Obama with a front page spread and editorial setting out
why the magazine thinks Obama is the right man for the job. The
editorial also expresses some concern about a Democrat dominated Congress -
it fears protectionism and over regulation too - and is pretty
scathing of McCain for running for President basically and for choosing a
running mate completely out of her league.

Also came across this :

This whole fucking election is a pantomime to have people invest all their
energies in hating the other guy and thinking their guy is the best thing since
mummy and daddy to create a buffer to prevent us freaking out over knowing we
are frightened self-destructive animals hurtling towards extinction.
memphisstar  - Eartth to Zed   |2008-11-02 13:52:30
Eh, right on Zed!, all life is shitty, purposeless and impersonal, whatever you
say, but take your head out of your ass as this election is just a
straightforward competition , call it a personality contest if you like, to
see which of two men gets to be the president of the greatest country on earth.
Nothing complex about my contribution either the white guy gets my vote because
I want to keep this country great , read into that what you will.

with mcCain's slogan "country first", you can bet that only the
strongest, most connected and well-adjusted will stand a chance under
his regime.

The oligarchy needs to be regulated. I know the idea
of regulation makes many uneasy, but I don't see how exposing and
regulating greed and hypocrisy can be a bad
thing.

"Country first" is mcCain's way of saying,
"this ain't about social justice".

We can't get any more
mileage out of 'each man for himself'.

"I am my brother's keeper." (barach obama)
JulieQ   |2008-11-02 17:42:15
Regulation doesnt seem to make George W. Bush feel uneasy as his administration
has imposed more regulations than any other in history and Bush is now trying to
push through 'midnight' regulations in dying days of his administration to
abolish or weaken environmental rules and protections to make life easier for
power and mining companies and other vested interests.
