driving both ways by autotelic

It isnt the Large Haldron Collider that's responsible for the centrifugal force
That's ripping a gaping blackhole in the economy
Flinging peoples jobs, savings and hopes against the fucking wall.
Ripping peoples lives apart.
Amidst the spin though
The Bush administration slips into escape velocity
No one seems to notice its stealth exit from Washington
The line of sleek black limos gliding out past the Lincoln Memorial
Black tinted windows deflecting any real lasting external scrutiny
Or probity beyond the dim shallow surface sheen of capital flight
Reflected in the sunglasses of the four motorcycle outriders
At the far side of the bridge
As the motorcade swiftly accelerates away from the the trail of bad paper , debt and smoke
Away from the clamour of the unnecessary dead in the national burial ground
And the rapidly expanding ghost class left behind
Driving away from the foreclosusers and bankruptcies
The fear and anguish of the skewered small business folk
Away from the cold islands of the dispossessed with their lives and shattered dreams heaped up in shopping karts
The convoy easilly overtakes the people who endlessly commute to be able to afford to pay for gas
Running over the walking wounded
The hungry and suicides
Executive tIres burn up the freeway
As poverty stamps on the face of the nation like a boot

I imagine the Bush clan know what they're going to be doing over the festive
season.....

my car has been running like shit ever since gas prices went down.

The price of gas can fall to zero but if people are scared about their jobs,
homes and futures they still arent going to be out driving round spending
money.

If general prices keep falling over time people wait to buy output falls and
people lose their jobs.

irony is starting to make me nauseous

....I do like this image, but what it symbolizes makes me sick

Economics is pretty nauseous all round - that's why its known as the Dismal
Science - but the real irony here is that economists have always tried to
interpret real world events through narrow theoretical models - such as the idea
that , all things being equal, markets will naturally come to rest at a full
employment equilibrium - rather than try to evolve tools for understanding
economic activity in the real world as it is so put bluntly , we are in
uncharted territory here because the credit crunch and pendulum swing from
inflationary to deflationary pressures was not predicted nor forseen ,
theoretically it should not have happened and no one has any real idea what to
do because the complexity of the global economy , particularly the number of
players involved now and their perceptions of what they think is in their
national interest makes the current global economic turmoil extremely fluid and
dangerous as the policy of one nation may undermine the efforts of another.

Trsditionally boom and bust cycles where deflationary pressures take the
upper hand result in war.

Standard economics also assumes growth is
desirable in and of itself. There is concern for the rate of growth , an
understanding economies can overheat , but no real considered understanding of
our real world predicament of having massively expanding economies and a
massively growing global population competing for finite resources on a small
planet already in grave danger of overheating and being pushed beyond its
carrying capacity.

Humans beings are very bad at working out and acting upon
what it is in their collective long term interest to do.

I dont like what the pic symbolises either but the central holy grail focus
could very easilly represent the 'unending growth ' delusion and we certainly
have our modern equivalent of the crusades and inquisition and lets be frank
about this, unless people have had their heads buried in the sand for the last
decade or so, and we routinely do that to avoid addressing our mortality so
there is a strong possibility that a lot of people have being doing exactly that
, the routine ruthlessness of the age certainly stands out as does the
self-righteousness, delusions of grandeur and arrogance of our economic holy
war driven leaders who have just expanded their mystical 'Round Table ' meetings
to include more nobles in their efforts to build a New Jerusalem based on
unending growth .

It'll all end in chaos and tears and thats my main take on
what this awkwardly composed bland little pic is trying to say as its blurred
quality captures the almost sightless way we now seem to be navigating towards
the future , the obscured drive, the driven selfishness and fear at the core of
all our collective actions , this pic flags that up to me because it is a flag ,
the red and black striped flag of anarchy come into sight the moment you forget
the black limos leaving town, which of course we have done, and the top stripe ,
which is struggling to be green and environmentally transformatative and
friendly doesnt quite make it and whats left is a violent chaos. In original
sense, anarchy literally means 'harmony' , a potential equilibrium state we seem
to have lost sight off in our desire to profit from destruction and exploiting
disharmony in the world. This pic could be the flag of a species bent on its own
self-destruction because the cruelest and most outrageous detail, the flight of
capital and power blurred in the centre , is a pathetic deception as there is no
escape for any of us.

.

the fear factor is at an all time high, and the lack of an escape
route.....well, I need some more sedatives.....must I really be conscious for
yet another day? Say it ain't so.
