she's up at dawn on Main again 

her kids coldly chase the cars up the street with their eyes as she frowns
willing the drivers to stop and maybe offer something to clean
even if she and the kids  have to walk all the way back home from town
one of her  boys  takes a small flag from his bag
which he proudly waves in the air to get seen
to make it clear to anyone cruising down oblivion drive
that they are still living the american dream
