Image

shuffling around wal-mart in detroit

in a black silk H&M babydoll nightgown

reflecting on the spiralling cost of living and despair
on godard and pasolini at michigan state
and on how rising fuel and food prices
are creating sympathy for the devil
and triggering hunger riots and political instability on a global level.
there's no right or wrong though

perish the fucking thought!
the overall picture  stacks up on the shelves all around me
mass produced food made from once cheap raw ingredients

from all four corners of the world
a sort of edible  kabbalah kitchen  to go
sacred bar codes and such
food tranported away from the unholy undernourished
into such tidy rows for busy western housewives
swedish au pairs

whining chaperoned celebs and the gophers of the idle rich

but its a good job they keep their distance

as  outside the crowds  are not queuing for autographs

or to recreate the heyday of studio 54

they are queing for sustenence

and its getting rowdy

cars are overturned  in the parking lot
there's looting in the bread aisle
and out of sight of the film crew
for yet another British gangsta movie
a man is beaten to death in the tinned fruit section
and set on fire by an angry panga wielding mob
but we are each somehow in control of our own destiny
responsible for our final destination
these celebrity beliefs!
articulate the aids wracked social landscape of africa
from a fifth avenue pampered self
permanently vacationing
in the planet's more exclusive shopping malls
where we pilot our own slick soul boats down the aisles

decide and pay our own salaries
and retreat to our secluded baronial castles
just as the raped, starving and oppressed of the world
will their fate on themselves

instead of shoplifting for jesus
they fill up their shopping carts with bloody hunger and pain
as the celebs  take all the credit

for taking personal responsibility

for agreeing where , when and to whom to be born

and for emanating pure light

to camera  in this dark world

of 6.7 billion not so important people.

She got soft the minute she started hanging out with Gwyneth Paltrow, now she
just breathes rareified air.

I can see why RATM is the only band that you have a link to on your site!

Most celebrities are totally irrelevant and completely obsolete, not to mention
that they're not in touch with the plight of the masses. But yeah, I do think
that Zach de la Rocha will always have something to say about class
consciousness.

there's a really sick tendency to treat celebs as seraphim

the RATM comment is valid , M has done a lot for AIDS charities, which is great
and she certainly has the fucking to but musically she's made no effort since
the 1980's having become almost completely shallow, self obsessed and anal and
mimicking the Beckhams with her husband in playing the Rock Royal family role
shows where she's at on a social and political level.

the woman has
practically morphed into a coffee table

WTF has VF ever done for the world
anyway?
