For those who cant sleep at night for worrying about the awful plight piracy and the bootlegging social networks have inflicted on recording artists and the music industry you'll be pleased to hear that Live Nation are just concluding a near record breaking $150 million deal with affluent Hip Hop artist and former Def Jam head Jay Z which includes financing his entertainment venture as well as recordings, tours and merchanidising over the next decade.
The deal, which should be finalized this week, comes after Live Nation secured a similar $120 million deal with Madonna and a 12-year agreement to handle the merchandising, digital and branding rights and touring of Irish group U2. The major players are looking to copy the Live Nation model so rumours of the death of the music industry appear to be greatly exagerated. Wonder who'll be first to offer rock luminaries slick embalming services , mausoleum construction and post mortem adoration plans.
