For those who cant sleep at night for worrying about the awful plight piracy and the bootlegging social networks have inflicted on recording artists and the music industry you'll be pleased to hear that Live Nation are just concluding a near record breaking $150 million  deal with affluent Hip Hop artist and former Def Jam head Jay Z which includes financing his entertainment venture as well as recordings, tours and  merchanidising  over the next decade.

The deal, which should be finalized this week, comes after Live Nation secured a similar $120 million deal with Madonna and a 12-year agreement to handle the merchandising, digital and branding rights and touring of Irish group U2. The major players are looking to copy the Live Nation model so rumours  of the death of the music industry appear to be greatly exagerated.

Wonder who'll be first to offer rock luminaries slick embalming services , mausoleum construction and post mortem adoration  plans.

....i think these artists should go confess to their gurus that they're having a
difficult time trying to accept that people are finding ways to get their
material for free.

ha! and a truly enlightened guru would respond to such an admission with a
memorable smack across the face or a swift unexpected kick in the
booty.

certain well known zen masters have been known to try and forcibly
drown their most eager students that kept missing the point.

so what's up
with the construction of the madonna mausoleum?
anna   |2008-04-03 15:21:48
Yeah, these people essentially use their gurus to make them feel more
comfortable in their wealth and their incessant desire for more. Death doesnt
seem to be on the agenda.

Right! Skip the Rock n'Roll Suicide for the diversify into fashion , film ,
kids book or whatever it takes to get more money gig...Yay, spiritualised!
jillian   |2008-04-04 01:53:12
that's precisely why some monks have to use what seems like radical tactics to
wake up their unconscious students.

Fight club anyone?

For those that have
been "blessed" with riches, fame, opportunity, and luck, it literally
takes them more than one lifetime to lose their ego.

When it comes to the
common touch and populist sentiment, they just don't have it, because life has
been too easy, too good, and too fortunate for them.

most of these major players can afford to retire a hundred times over, and never
ever have to worry about money again. They should quit their whining about
piracy and do something relevant for humanity.
